Job Description

- MARKETING MANAGER -

Our client specialises in creating live consumer events providing experiences that enable consumers to indulge in their passions. They have experienced exponential growth over the last 12 months, expanding from a portfolio of nine events last year to 25 this year.

Our client is currently, going through a major growth phase in the business, launching new shows and expanding our international activities. This calls for a more senior marketing team, with experience from outside the company as well as from within.


In partnership with a top broadsheet paper, The, 'Style in the City' is a city-wide consumer fashion and beauty festival providing a fantastic array of fashion entertainment, shopping treats, catwalk show and in-store retailer experiences in the heart of a city's shopping district.
The traditional 'event approach' of bringing retailers to a single venue is turned on its head. The event is designed to 'bring the event to retailers' using the city and retailer environments as a canvas as well as creating unique destination venues to host entertainment and showcase shopping and fashion shows.
The Job
Provide the tactical marketing and PR activity to deliver the strategic positioning of Style in the City (Birmingham and London), achieving visitor attendance and ticket revenue targets.

Job accountability and responsibilities
"In conjunction with the Marketing Director, develop marketing strategies to position the event as an upmarket consumer fashion and shopping event differentiated from other live fashion events
"Execute the marketing plan to ensure all media relations, advertising, direct mail, online, promotional events and PR activities are provided and directed to generate maximum exposure and ticket sales for 'Style in the City' Birmingham and London
"Work closely with the appointed PR agency in generating pre-show coverage, maximisation of show talent and event promotions
"Management of all supplier and advertising agency output and relationships (PR, direct mail, printers, ATL, media, online)
"Work closely with retail associations/bodies, individual retailers and media partners in creating imaginative initiatives to leverage partnerships and generate additional exposure and tickets sales opportunities
"Work closely with the Style in the City event team to fulfil commitments to sponsors, media partners and stakeholders
"Produce marketing material templates that retailers can use in-store to assist in promoting the Style in the City brand
"Creation, development and maintenance of event websites
"Manage and control the Style in the City marketing budget
"Produce, maintain and analyse daily ticket reports
"Create a targeted 'complimentary ticket' campaign as required
"Post-event evaluation of the relevance and effectiveness of all communications/promotions and recommend appropriate amendments to management
"Establish contacts and network with industry-specific media, personalities and brands
"Review the fashion and retail market place to ensure up-to-date with industry developments and the evolving positioning of brands and fashion media
"Ensure all activities fall within the requirements as laid down by the Advertising Standards Board, and all activities fall within the "Office of Fair Trading" directives and the industry regulatory bodies. Particular care to be taken with the UK Data Protection Act.

Minimum knowledge/experience/training/qualifications
Qualifications:
"Likely to have a university qualification in fashion, media, or marketing.
Experience:
"Minimum of five years experience in marketing/PR/media. Industry experience in fashion or retail essential.
Knowledge/Skills:
"Good knowledge of marketing concepts
"Good planning and organisational skills
"Creative writing skills advantageous
"Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines a must
